TL;DR – Our Last Minute Anniversary Gift ideas for Her
1) Give Her Relaxation – Most women like to be pampered, so a spa certificate would be a lovely idea, whether it is for a facial or a massage or both.
2) Give her high tech gadgets – Also, as with the “guys are helpless” stereotype, it’s also not true that gadgets are just for the guys. Women love getting technology – just so long as it’s not a kitchen appliance – those we can buy for ourselves!
3) Keep it classic – A classic gift is, of course, a lovely perfume from a well known perfumer, such as Hermes or Dolce & Gabbana.
4) Make it sensual – Another gift idea along a similar vein as perfume – given women love sensual products – would be to fill up a gift basket with multiple products from a brand like Philosophy or a store like The Body Shop.
5) What about some bling-bling? – Of course you can’t go wrong with a piece of jewelry – and Marilyn Monroe was partially right when she said that diamonds are a girl’s best friend.
6) Gift boxes – Just let other people help you – Gift boxes such as tea, coffee, wine, or chocolate “of the month” are a nice idea because the gift will still be arriving for a few months after your special day, and getting new products over time is a lovely reminder of your thoughtful gift giving.
7) Be artistic – A gift that is a little more whimsical would be to have a piece of pop art created from a photo of her.
You know, there seems to be some cruel joke being played on guys – and women too – that guys are totally helpless and just can’t get their act together when it comes to anything related to the home. It’s gotten so bad that articles have been written in reputable newspapers (for example this one in the British newspaper The Daily Mail).
Men in sitcoms or in commercials are shown as useless when it comes to taking care of the home or kids – or even when it comes to something as simple as buying gifts. The stereotype of the guy buying a blender or a vacuum for his wife still stays with us but is so passé that it borders on caricature!
So what’s up with men and anniversary gifts in real life?
From what I’ve experienced and heard from my girlfriends, guys often purchase the most thoughtful gifts – surprising their partners by showing they remember the most innocent of remarks their wives made in the months leading up to a birthday or anniversary about the particular colors, scents, items that their partner had said were nice in passing.
But any guy can use a bit of help at times especially when it is last minute right before the anniversary. Needless to say it can become hard to buy gifts for the same person – so hopefully we can help you come up with ideas that can be used – over and over again.
Last Minute Anniversary Gift Ideas For Her
Here are some ideas for last minute anniversary gift that most women would enjoy receiving (with my bias of course). Hopefully one of the following sounds like just the right gift for your partner:
Most women like to be pampered, so a spa certificate would be a lovely idea, whether it is for a facial or a massage or both.
Just to show you how much women like spa treatments, let me give you the example of my best friend’s mum who just drove across country to start a new life in CA and who stopped on the way at Ten Thousand Waves spa in Santa Fe to enjoy a day of relaxation before completing her trip.
Spas are like mini retreats where the busy woman can rejuvenate before going back to her daily routine. The same goes for a weekend getaway at a resort– minus the kids, of course, just this once. Just time for the two of you to reconnect and unwind in a beautiful setting is a wonderful way to begin the New Year.
Also, as with the “guys are helpless” stereotype, it’s also not true that gadgets are just for the guys. Women love getting technology – just so long as it’s not a kitchen appliance – those we can buy for ourselves!
One of the coolest, newest “toys” I’ve seen is the laser projection keyboard, a pocket-sized device that connects via Bluetooth will turn any flat surface into a full sized keyboard.
Or you might consider getting your wife a Bluetooth speaker if you don’t already have one, smart phone projector or an iPhone talk dock, all of which would make using everyday devices more versatile and easier to use.
Especially when you consider all the controversial messages that have been published about the possibility of getting cancer from too much cell phone usage (and who’s going to give up their cell phone?), a talk dock is not just more comfortable to use but also potentially a health-enhancing gift that can charge her phone at the same time. Win-win.
A classic gift is, of course, a lovely perfume from a well known perfumer, such as Hermes or Dolce & Gabbana.
Perfumes are a very good choice because we like to have a variety of scents on hand to suit our mood, occasion, time of day or season – so, really, we can never have enough perfume.
However, perfume can be a very personal item, so it would be a good idea to jot down the names of the perfumes your wife already own to ask an assistant at the store to find a perfume that is in the same “family” scent profile as typically most perfumes fall into either a floral, woodsy, musky, or fresh category.
My favorite is the musky category because it’s the one that has a warm, sensual, and spicy aroma – just like my favorite Chanel No. 5.
Another gift idea along a similar vein as perfume – given women love sensual products – would be to fill up a gift basket with multiple products from a brand like Philosophy or a store like The Body Shop.
It is fun to try out all the items in a basket full of goodies! A nice mix of products for the face, hair, body, hands, and feet would be a lovely and thoughtful gift if you picked out each item specifically for her (yes, you can get some advice from someone at the store but you might find that you actually enjoy checking out all those products and might end up buying a few for yourself!).
Of course you can’t go wrong with a piece of jewelry – and Marilyn Monroe was partially right when she said that diamonds are a girl’s best friend.
To do something a little bit unusual, perhaps you can buy something that incorporates the idea of birthstones – but rather than buying the one to match the month of her birthday, why not get the stone that represents the month that you were married?
Here is a list of birthstones to find the one for your particular wedding month. Your wife might be familiar with her own birthstone, but she will probably be surprised to find out which one you both share together as a couple.
Gift boxes such as tea, coffee, wine, or chocolate “of the month” are a nice idea because the gift will still be arriving for a few months after your special day, and getting new products over time is a lovely reminder of your thoughtful gift giving.
I particularly love any gift that both I and a worthwhile charity get to benefit from, so the one I found here is appealing.
If food or drink isn’t quite what you are looking for, there are clubs for make-up/beauty products or the “umba box,” which is filled with very feminine hand crafted products each month, but there are so many “of the months” out there now – yes, there’s even one for beer too – that there is sure to be something that you know she loves to indulge with.
A gift that is a little more whimsical would be to have a piece of pop art created from a photo of her.
I have seen Andy-Warhol inspired pieces that are bright and bold that would definitely be a unique and creative way to celebrate the woman you love – and definitely become a conversation piece in your home.
Both this and the “gift of the month” ideas do require you to plan a little ahead of time, but, if you are indeed searching for last minute ideas, you could still buy one of these two products and print out related images from the site you have ordered from to create your own gift card to show her what she will be receiving soon as that special gift from you (and, no, you did not forget your anniversary – who does that nowadays?).
I hope one of these ideas works for you – we are always coming up with new ideas, so do check our other articles or come back to our site to get a few more gift ideas. Happy Anniversary!
